It's not the Spark Plugs!

My car is having issues. It kind of "jumps" and feels like it does when the spark plugs are bad. But I just put in a brand new set. They are "gapped" correctly and everything. What's up? I'm no expert on car electrical systems, but I'm pretty sure I'm competent enough to change some spark plugs. Could it be the wires that connect them? Do they even go bad? Really I'm at a loss here.

What kind of car? What year is the car? Is the check engine light on? If it's on is it flashing? Changed the fuel filter recently? How many miles are on the car? Yes wires do degrade over time. Does this car have a coil pack, or a distributor? Need some more information before we can truly help.

You asked if the wires going to the spark plugs can go bad, yes they can. Over time or due to improper removal they do cause issues and may feel like a miss in the engine.

You could have one that is a tiny bit loose if it is an itermittent issue. I went to my mechanic three times with a car with that issue, the first two times, they thought I was nuts because the car ran fine for them until the third time, and then they found it. This was after I tried everything that I could think of. Good luck with it.
