Ford power windows are known for the gears going out in them. Check at the auto parts near you for the kit to rebuild them. Not a hard job to do.

So the passenger window will go up but not down using the passener side window switch, but no response at all when using the driver side switch? Can you use the rear window switches to operate the rear windows?

Check the child safety feature on the driver side switch bezel. If it's on you'll get this limited functionally of the widows. If that isn't the problem remove the bezel in order to verify that the electrical connection is not loose. If you have a multimeter you can set it to check continiuty and check the switches themselves. They should give a reading when activated.

Check the wires between the door & the body of the truck,, After lots of opening & closing,, these wires can break & do strange things... Kinda sounds like what you've got going on??? Roger

It does sound like a loose connection. You know, you can test the switches by testing them the same way you would a light switch. And you can test the terminal ends of the incoming wires for voltage.
But you say that the ohm meter and test light is no help to you?

googled "reverse polarity switch" ....it sent me to a $10 switch (6 hookup on back of a toggle switch) i picked up a 12volt source behind door panel and wired....the switch i put in place of the original window switch (made small bracket)
If you want the "STANDARD" auto parts ....part number i will get it for you?
