question

I just bought a 2006 honda civic with 70,000 miles on it, I was looking at new engine for that car and I found that they cost about $2,500.00, will it be a good idea to buy one and storage it in the garage to use it after the existing engine is worn out. Engine is running good, I'm just afraid that in 5 years if it breaks I wont find a replacement. If I keep the engine for that long in the garage you think if I need it in 5 years will be still good?.

thanks, I'll appreciate any advice.

I'd keep the money. IMO there isn't any sense in paying for something you may or may not need..... and surely that $2500 sitting in the bank drawing interest [what little they pay] would be enough to have the current engine rebuilt if that day comes.
