Unhappy 2001 Toyota 4Runner AC stopped working

AC was working in the morning, went out later and started blowing warm air. Belt is turning, compressor not working, clutch not engaging. Checked fuse it was fine. Please advise what to do next.
Thank you,
Jean

The first thing I would do is check the refrigerant pressure. If it is too low, this will activate a low pressure switch which will prevent the compressor from operating.

And this would happen if there was a leak.

If the pressure was ok, I would next check the electrical circuits for the A/C using a factory wiring diagram and a multimeter.

Thank you for the info, I will have the pressure checked hopefully tomorrow. I'll let you know how I make out.

Wink

It ended up being the high pressure line, it had a leak at the connection and after it was replaced we found another leak in the metal line next to it. Thanks for all your help, it ended up being an inexpensive fix.
