Ford T-Bird Starter Rebuild

I have an 88 TBird with the 5.0 litre engine that had its starter fail recently. Since it is a daily driver I plan to keep, I put in a remanufacured starte to get me going, but want to rebuild the original Ford labeled Starter. Should I go to Ford for the parts for a 22 year old starter, or somewhere else to get good quality parts to do this?

Unless this is a show Car, Throw the starter in the scrap bin. Its been a long time, but I dont remember a point deduction for Replaced Wearable Items.

The parts themselves, the legwork of locating them, and the labor would far exceed the cost of your replacement.

I suppose you could "Paint it up Pretty" and hang it in the garage....

Ford starter

If you want to keep this starter look around for a shop that rebuilds them, and get a quote. You dont have the equipment to do this job.
