Is it too late to change the transmission fluid?

I have a 2000 Silverado. 165K miles. The transmission fluid was suppose to be changed at 100K but wasn't. I have read that if you wait to long it is better not to change it because it will do more harm than good. Have I waited to long?

Thanks

No you haven't. Just do a regular fluid and filter screen change. Don't have the system flushed.

I would change it. Be sure to use the latest ATF which is DEXRON VI.
