2002 Dodge Dakota SLT Blower Motor works only on High??

Can anyone please tell me what to check/replace on 2002 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab, blower motor. It just started to now only work on the high (4th/last) position. I checked the fuse (drivers side panel) and it's fine. What else, or do I have to replace it? If so, is it fairly easy and can I buy a used one?? I replaced a blower motor on a '98 Ford Explorer-it was easy. Any help would be great! Thanks!

Just a guess...but its a pretty common problem for your symptoms. The blower motor resistor has probably gone south. Not sure where it's located..but normally it's somewhere in the airflow of the blower. One of the Pro's will be around to help.

Fold the glovebox door down, The 2X3 inch rectangular Thing with the Twisted pair of green and black wires is what youre looking for.....

As far as ..."Not the whole motor"........Dont sound so surprised......A worn motor is the most likely candidate for chewing up resistors.....

Secondly, ANY OF THE CONNECTORS THAT ARE HEAT DAMAGED ...MUST BE REPLACED. If this is the case...let me know, I can get you the part #'s for the connector kits.....

Hey JPMaine I own the same truck only mine goes out completely. first one went right after I bought the truck, 2nd one went 4 years later and the 3rd one went in less than a year, about 9 months. The only difference this time is I'm not paying for this one on any other one that burns out after this, either Dodge or Napa is paying for them from now on. At the Napa store the part number is #BR284 and it has a 3 yr manufacturers warranty, but Dodge should have come up with something better and recalled the SOB because its not just the Dakota's, it the Caravans and the 1500's also. Anyway when I searched for it I couldn't believe how many were having the same problem. Mine is left of the blower motor not thru the glove box.

This problem is not only mopar a lot of gms do it too. Tana if you read diezel's post and look your symptoms you can see a connection. Your blower motor is wearing out and drawing more current than the resistor can handle, continually getting worse.

Would a Jeep Liberty of the same model year likely have the same parts too?
