pathfinder exhaust parts

Buddy of mine acquired a 91 Pathfinder with a hole in the back of the muffler and the tailpipe the rest of the way missing. Checked at Carquest for a muffler and a tailpipe, they said muffler $104 and tailpipe $67. Then checked at NAPA, they said the muffler and tailpipe all are one piece and cost $240 bucks. What's the deal, is it supposed to be a one piece thing or not? Any comments/advice appreciated here.

Could be different manufacturers for the parts between the two stores. From personal experience, I have always found Napa to be rather expensive.

The factory part is probably one piece and some of the aftermarket ones probably copy the design; others split them up. Either one should work.

Okay, I see. Thanks. I suppose if either option should work I'll go with two-piece, as that'll be less expensive. Unless there's a good reason not to.

As sportsfan opined, there could also be a differnce in quality; might want to eyeball all parts to see if either give you the impression of better made stuff.
