2007 Chevy Malibu Keyless Entry Fob - replacement & programming

Purchased a used 2007 Chevy Malibu that only had the keys for the one door lock on the driver's side... Would like to get a Keyless Entry Fob and have found several after-market supplier dealing in Used, Refurbed and New - ranging from $24.00 Used to $39.00 New - But they don't provide the programming service to match the Fob to the car...
Can anyone recommend a vendor simply for good sales/order service?
Does anyone know of a vendor that can provide the Fob programming needed?
If that's not possible (which I suspect is probably the case, given car theft potential), are there any ways to get the Fob programmed without having to go to a Chevy dealer? Would a good auto repair shop have that device?
Thanks,

For obvious reasons donít expect to find programming instructions on the web. [B[/B] Going to a dealer means having your lungs removed (without surgery). If you post your city, state and zip code, I may be able to recommend a few skilled LOCKSMITHS in your area.

you need to find out EXACTLY which fob model is dedicated for your car.
you need to find out if your car even has remote lock feature. dealers will tell by vin number.
then, you need to turn around and google exactly same fob number. eg, mine is gm/uta 15732803

then, you can mate your new fob with your car. every ONLINE SITE I HAVE EVER CHECKED OUT FOR FOBS, PROVIDES LEARNING INSTRUCTIONS. i have them for my silverado, but it's 2000 and prolly different for yours.

if you do not have exactly same fob id # purchased, IT WILL NOT WORK. gm might be proud for making it very very hard to beat.
btw, lucky you. mine start at 70 bucks per fob.

Thanks ASE_MASTER, will give those locksmiths a call...

Ukrbyk, here's the information I got directly off of the Keyless-Remotes.com site; looks like later fobs need to to be programmed with a device while earlier ones could be self-programmed to the car like the keys are:

Programming: This remote must be programmed to your vehicle. Programming can only be done by a dealer or automotive technician with the correct electronic scan tool for your vehicle.

Numbers on this remote:
P/N: GM 15252034
FCC ID: KOBGT04A
IC: 3521A-T04A

Condition: New

Welcome to the forums.

When you say need a key..... do you mean the ignition key or the remote fob.

With most vehicles if you have at least one..... you can have a new one learned. If you are missing one or the other you will most likely need to go to a dealer for the first one.

If the key advances system to II position, which is ACC, with dashboard lights come up, but car will not start thereafter, BCM, or body control module, is not recognizing the key.
Either battery was removed from the key and key needs to be relearned, or ECM/BCM have to be reset to recognize a good key. Dealer.

No....the fob is just for remote functions. Has no effect on starting.

If she just got the car then she could possibly have the wrong key.
Has it ever started with the key she has ?

Look at the dashboard for the SECURITY light. If it's blinking then the key doesn't match the cars code and it'll mean a trip to the dealer. I believe, even with the VIN, the dealer must still program the first key.
