Question Cant get the head off of 1988 4runner V6

Removed all the head bolts and exhaust manifold bolts. Do I have to remove the power steering pump bracket to get the head off? I have tried and tried to get the head to lift off. Stubborn. I can't imagine what else could be holding it down. I can get it to lift up off the intake side about 1/4" and thats it. Are these that hard to remove? I'll be using a bigger pry bar. I think at the rear below the head and above the transmission housing is a good place to pry and near the front of the head might be a place to pry. Should I remove the spark plugs before pulling the head?
thanks

seriously, before you break something. SPEND $14 ON REPAIR MANUAL. or a dollar at a local library to make copies from Chilton. it's 88, you MUST have repair manual.
