what are the electrical diagnostic steps for this problem

Saturn '96 SL 2. Bought a new battery last month. It seemed to have been turning over to start rather weakly in the past week or two. This morning, after sitting in the cold yesterday, no ignition. I had a dome light and dashboard lights before trying to turn over, then I turned the key and nothing. All went black.

I tried to jump from my other car with no luck. It didn't even draw the motor down when I hooked up the jumper cables. I guess when I get home I will try all the connections to check for loose, but then what?

Thanks

every time i hear something like this, my first inclination is to yell - clean the terminals!!! buy a dollar worth tool, and clean them terminals.

otherwise, you need to be more specific. does it click and does not turn? or there's NOTHING?

also, tell guys how you had your jumpers connected.

1st thing you do if you get her running is to check how many volts you have at terminals. anything below 13 is not charging battery and loose alternator belt is the usual suspect. or bad alternator.
