'89 Town Car

Hi, guys-
the Driver's door on my friend's '89 Lincoln Town Car is not closing properly, not "butting" up evenly with the door frame. The doors on these TC's and Crown Vics weigh a ton! Im sure it's the hinges. Is there an easy and simple way to change 'em out without a lift?

With a little help, shouldn't be hard to do. Just stack up pieces of scrap wood or whatever you have around to the level of the bottom of the door. A milk crate and a few pieces of board would work well usually. Once it's supported have a helper keep the door straight while you unbolt and rebolt the hinges one at a time. Before you go all out and replace the hinges, you might try just adjusting them. With the door supported as above loosen the mount bolts and see if the door will rotate upward slightly. Retighten bolts and check the door fit.

Thank yew, TG!
After I read your expertise to the town car owner, he told me his neighbor has a floor jack! even better-er!
And - I try to adjust 'em first, and if the door is still not lining up -
we get hinges.
Happy (late) New Year to you and all the DIY crew

Hi, Newtofta-
I remember they sold those for the old K-cars with welded hinges.
They seemed always to get bent outa shape.
So- you think they're available for the Lincoln " Panzers"?
