1995 Nissan Maxima V6 Misfiring

My 1995 Nissan Maxima V6 was misfiring on cylinder no. 5. I was told by the dealer that the ignition coil for that cylinder was bad and that it damaged the other five. So, all six needed to be replaced. Replaced them all. The car is still misfiring. Now they say that the intake manifold gasket, fuel injector, and "O" rings need to be replaced. Does any of this sound legitimate? Or am I being taken advantage of?

The very FIRST thing I would do is go back to that dealership, demand to see the service manager (refuse to talk to anyone lower) and ask for an explanation. If you don't get some satisfaction request to be put in touch with a regional manager (different titles are used, but they should know what you're asking for). I'll defer to the professional mechanics on the issue of the coils, but I've never heard of one coil pack making the other ones go bad. If all the coil packs were "damaged" why the misfire on only one cylinder? Could very well be an injector, but I would be finding someone else to confirm and repair it.

Yes, in my never-to-be humble opinion, you are being taken advantage of. Once you've heard what the service manager has to say, find a good independent garage; there's nothing special about a '95 Nissan that requires it to be serviced at the dealership well past warranty expiration for something like a simple misfire. Pretty basic stuff.

Ditto....move up the food chain. I will never pay for a repair that doesn't fix the problem.
