95 GMC suv 4wd range shift motor
Purchased a Jimmy that had been in storage for two years.
Conv lockup solenoid was sticking and range motor would not operate. When solenoid was corrected, range motor started working again. Are these two connected by some sort of signal, or was it just coincidence? puzzled

Is it shift on the fly, or the buttons of the dash for the 4 wheel drive?
I could tell you this. There is a vacuum switch at the tranfer case, and there is a vacuum actuator under the battery box that pulls the fork in to lock the front differential.
The switch goes bad and or vacuum leak from under the hood coming from the throttle body to the round canister for emmisions.
If all is good there the acuator may be bad. They are a PITA to get to but battery acid usually rots the vacuum hose there or actually corodes the pin.
