Replacing shocks/struts on Jeep Cherokee

I'm trying to decide whether I want to undertake the task myself of replacing the shocks and struts on my jeep grand Cherokee Laredo 6 Cylinder 2001.

What is the level of difficulty?

Also, does this model of jeep have shocks or struts (and what’s the difference?!). I've done research and am getting conflicting reports.

Any best practices or tips would be appreciated as I've never done this before. Thanks in advance.

If it has shocks most anyone with some mechanical skills can change them. If it has struts it requires some special equipment to change the springs over(you can remove them and have a shop change them for you) The best way to tell if it has struts is to look at it,if you dont know the difference you might want to pass on DIY.

In the case of a strut, the job is potentially dangerous.
