4.3 gmc engine

the 4.3 in my safari van want start unless i spray ether or some type of starting fluid down the throat but after starting it runs well.It is not hard to start after spraying ether. Any feedback please!

is your coolant temp sensor working correctly. The engine may think its trying to start hot, so the fuel is not rich enough cold. When you start the car turn the key to on. Wait 10 seconds. If the car starts up then you need to change your fuel pump. or possibly have a fuel pump on its way out.

Those engines tend to have a lot of gunk build up on the back of the valves to. that would affect cold starting. run a few bottles of chevron cleaner in your tank. Make sure you get the bottle for 20 gallons of gas.

just remembered on more thing if you have the spider injection version of the engine then your it may be leaking fuel into the engine causing it to be flooded. Another common issue with that dreaded 4.3 liter.
