88 T-Bird Engine Stumble

I have an 88 T-Bird Sport Coupe with the 5.0 litre V8 with 75000 miles on it. The engine has developed a stumble (I call it) just before it gets to where the temperature gauge starts to move to normal temperature. The engine shakes badly and the tach jumps like crazy. Once the engine is warm, it runs smoothly the rest of the trip. This happens in cool, or warm weather. Anyone have any experience with this? (I do not get a check engine light)

How long since it had plugs/wires/cap/rotor. Might be a moisture problem causing a slight misfire until warm.

88 TBird

I was thinking the same thing. I only drive it in the summer here in Ohio and I know that sitting a lot is not good for any car. It wouldn't surprise me that the throttle body needs a little cleanup work too.

I will keep you posted if it turns out to be something weird.

Thanks!

88 TBird Rough Engine

All I had to do was put in a bottle of fuel injector cleaner in the fuel tank at fill up. Runs fine now.
