Any suggestions on what the problem might be?

I have a 1997 VW Jetta Jazz with a 2.0L 4 cyl engine, automatic transmission.

Intermittently it will misfire causing bucking and lost of power. Sometimes even to the point that I have to stop and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. After that it will run fine again. I have an error code reader which indicates a misfire but does not tell me which cylinder.

I have replaced the rotor, cap, plugs, wires, and coil. Have also replaced the fuel filter.

Any suggestions on what the problem might be?

full computerized diagnostic at a shop costs about $70 and gives you full blown picture of your car. cheaper than replacing items on a guess.

personally, that's why i stay away from German cars. too much electronics. we have one in family, i have experiences.
