2006 Chrysler Town and Country Van Brake Problem

I have a 2006 Chrysler T&C van and need to change the rear brakes. The local auto shop says that I have to use ceramic brake pads...is this true? I found other ones that are not as expensive as the ceramic ones they are insisting I buy. Can anyone help on this?

Thanks,

I dont remember there being a ceramic requirement on that model year van. There are other brake pads that are less expensive mostly based on material makeup. Keep in mind you get what you pay for. If you buy the cheaper pads you may experience noise, dust and shortened brake pad and rotor life. I just checked with my parts department and there is a ceramic alternative, but the standard equipment pad is not a ceramic design. So as long as you use a good quality pad in a semi-metallic design you should be fine.
IMHO... NEVER skimp on brake components. Always use good quality parts.
Hope this helps ya,
Billy
