suzuki grand vitara headlight

I just look at a low beam headlight of a Suzuki Grand Vitara. The connector has a toothpaste-like material on the copper contacts. What is this toothpaste-like material and what is its function?

Probably anti-corrosion/waterproofing compound. Basically it's electrical grease. I used to tell people it was so the electrons can slide through easier..lol
