Wheel bearings
I was wondering, what is normal mileage for wheel bearing replacement. I just turned over to 80,000, and the other day I could hear this rumbling sound. I am taking it in Saturday, to get it checked out. I am hoping it is a tire, and not a bearing. I have anti-skid, and it goes about $150.00 just for the part. It is a 2002, 4 wheel drive blazer, and it hasn't been beat, I take good care of my baby.

There is no average life for many automotive parts. My left front wheel brng went out at 60K the right one is still going at 110K. The golden rule in automotive work, NEVER ASSUME ANYTHING.

I can say that my Silverado driver side hub bearing went bad at 60 000, and pass side is still holding at 123 000. go figure.
there's simple hub bearing test. don't be a sucker, do it yourself, so that no one tells you bs about expensive repairs needed.

That is the way my mechanic is too. Over the years he has gotten enough of my money, so he will check things out for free. He does all my work except for tires, I don't like the brain he carries or the price.
