abs pump 2003 Windstar ???

Hi - 2003 Ford Windstar 85K, traction control light and check engine light comes on when you accelerate then stays on. Abs pump with computer replacement is what the ford dealer says $1500 + labor...ouch. Are there any other checks that I could do to confirm that replacement is not the only option - Thanks in advance.

Windstars are known for the tone rings cracking, on the ft c/v hubs - which would set an abs lite / & possible engine lite, what codes are they telling you are coming up ?
what code is being set - to warrant a PCM replacement ??

I have to agree with Newtofta, After working for Ford for ~20 years, I have only replaced 4 or 5 computers,, Check the Tone rings really close, They crack between the teeth & set speed signal codes in both computers as well as other codes.. Post the codes & the Pros will help.... Roger

1st / take elect connector off control module / under vehicle / below driver seat
test to make sure that (i think large yellow) power supply wires have battery voltage.
( a good test is to wire up a head lamp bulb to use as a test light / if the circuit will illuminate the bulb, it should be good enough)
& use the large black wires as your test ground.
in an other words, you must have a good power supply & ground at the module !

also look for corrosion on the terminals ( you are in Canada ?)

should mention that the
traction control light and check engine light comes on in Drive when you accelerate to ~5 mph, then stays on. So it does not come on if your reverse.
