2002 Dodge Caravan wont start.

After trying to start my wifes caravan it smells of gas. The vehical is fuel injected so I didn't touch the gas pedal. The starter cranks but the engine wont fire. Whats up? Just bought the thing a week ago as is.

flooded spark plugs.
leaking injectors.
ECU "overdoses" on gas supply.
no spark, hence - no combustion, followed by smell of unburnt gas.

you can try pulling a plug out and checking for spark. if spark is present, try cleansing several plugs with gas torch. engines usually can start off just few plugs, then, as engine warms up, the rest kick in.

you may need to hold gas pedal down to the floor, while cranking engine. that's how you start flooded engine. takes a good few cranks to get them going. when it starts (hopefully) picking up, still hold pedal, until it does catch by itself, but don't rev. basically, you letting a lot of air in. also, check your air filter.

from that on - life will show.
