Check engine light

I have a 2006 pacifica, w/85000 miles. yesterday the check engine light came on. All the fluids are fine and it runs great. First thing I checked was to make sure the gas cap was tight. I hadn't filled the tank for several days. A friend had mentioned that could be the cause. Any ideas before I hed for the dealership on Monday.

What Mark and MKM said; get a free read somewhere and get the codes cleared after the read! Could very well have been the gas cap; the light would not immediate reset. That only happens after a predetermined number of "cycles". This varies depending on the system being monitored and is often "x" number of starts or cycles of the ignition key. Once the codes are cleared, drive it and see if the light returns before spending any money on it.
