Windshield wiper fluid

I have 2004 Hyundai Accent. The windshield wiper fluid will not come out but there is plenty in the tank (I checked).

How can I troubleshoot or fix this problem?

I am very novice, so should I take this to the repair shop?

There are some pretty simple things to check first. For starters, when you push the button is there a humming noise under the hood? That would be the little pump running. If there's a hum but no water comes out, likely either a clogged hose to the nozzles or clogged nozzles. To unclog a nozzle, poke it with a very small needle.

If no humming, either no power to pump or bad pump. Unless you have a voltmeter you'll be limited to checking the fuse as far as power goes. If the pump itself is bad you may be able to replace it yourself depending on its location; generally they are mounted right on or next to the tank and are pretty easy to remove.

Be sure to use washer fluid that is winterized so that it will not freeze up.

yes, like adding half a bottle of rubbing alcohol to your windshield fluid canister. winterize, I mean.
