CV Axle

I have a 2001 Nissan Altima with manual transmission. The CV axle on the drivers side has a bent lock ring and will not go into the transmission. My question is if it's installed correctly would be okay to install without the lock ring? For normal everyday driving would it hurt the transmission?

Thanks

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I have done it once. You don't wanna know!!
refurbished axles are like 80 bucks with warranty. also, betcha, you can buy just the piece itself.

question is, how damage was done to the axle seat in differential, if lock was bent INSIDE and ground on it.

yeah, takes some finesse to get them off. Spreader or modified needle nose pliers work well. 2 hrs still sounds too much though. 20 minutes of cussing, yes.
