Fuel Gauge

My fuel gauge on my 1987 mercury cougar reads CO and not the amount of gas I have.

What exactly do you mean by "CO"? It's either the gauge...or the sender...which is often a part of the fuel pump in newer cars.

Ahh thats why I was confused...you must have a digital gauge. Never had a car with one...so didn't think of it.

Sorry I don't have any suggestions. No Pro mechanic.
