Water pump change

Water pump change

I have a 1988 Lincoln Marl vii that the water pump need changed. I have changed a water pump on a Cadillac before and what a pain will this be a pain as well?? I haven't got the Chilton yet going to pick it up today.

Probably just as bad if they were similar years. Autozone may have a repair guide to give you an idea of whats involved.

Generally the pumps themselves aren't terribly difficult; getting all the crap out of the way to get to them is another story.....

Ford products have been bad about bolting brackets for everything to the water pump. As you take them off lay them out in the order they came off and reverse the procedure going back. If you get them out of order you start over. Be sure the system is warmed up,coolant circulating, and all air expelled before driving.
