This will probably be a silly question for it's basic nature, but the compressor is actually engaging?

I put jumper wire on at first, to keep comp. on. After I put in the one can of uv, I removed jumper wire and plugged back in. Now comp. keeps turning itself on and off about every 5 seconds.

Throw the HVAC to defrost and temp to cold and she'll keep the compressor engaged if it's working.
At idle, when you engage the compressor, does the engine show the load (RPMs drop)?

On and off every 5 seconds sounds like low charge.

Your system holds 1.69lbs normally one can is only 1.0lb so your system is low try charging one more can and stop half full if still cycling on and off check your low pressure switch
