Question about easy accessibility for simple maintenance on modern cars
I am thinking about buying a 2012 or 2013 Ford Mustang GT V8. I know some modern vehicle engine compartments are so cluttered, it's difficult to do simple maintenence like, oil/filter and fluid changes, air and fuel filter replacement, belt replacement. Would this be a problem with this model?

Probably your opinion is going to count as much as others, I'd head to the dealer and pop the hood.
FWIW, the V6 is over 300 HP these days, I would bet there's at least more room under there than with the V8.

Regular maintenance like fluid and filter changes should be pretty easy. Belt replacement, alternator, etc...probably not so much. Best way to find out (if no one has any better info here) is call a few places and ask them for the "book" price (or what they'd charge) for things that may need it.
Seems like many new cars, the work is easier done from the bottom. Pull a wheel and an inner fender well or the diffusers off the bottom and things are right there. Not so easy w/o a lift though.
Seems I read they are trying to put weight lower in the vehicles to help with center of gravity and handling. I know my wifes 2001 SUV has almost all the accessories mounted much lower. Even the belt for the alternator requires the fender well removal.

Thanks. Yeah, I went to the dealer this weekend, and they had a couple Mustangs with the hood up. It appeared that the fluids and filters wouldn't not be too difficult to get at. But even with the hood popped, it was hard to say for sure. All these new engines seem to have all these covers.
There even seems to be something like a rack at the bottom of the engine compartment?
