Rounded Out Locking Lug Nut Stuck

Removed one locking lug with a torch
Removed one locking lug by pounding on a 13/16

This one though is not going anywhere.
Tried pounding a 13/16, tried JB weld, now the locking lug is rounded. Any suggestions?

Maybe trying the key that came with the wheels??? You can buy nut ez outs, too. I have a set and they are great for rounded bolt heads. They really grab firmly and the more you torque them the more the dig in. What did you do with the JB Weld, just curious.

Funny Guy,
What did I do with the JB weld? I put it in my toolbox, ,. The JB weld was applied sparingly inside a deep socket. Maybe a short 13/16 and lots of JB weld should be tried.

P.S. The EZ Outs remind me of last yr when I learned about left handed threads. @ 70 set ,whew, maybe that is why do not have any

P.S.S. Obviously did not learn much, Is an Ez Out=screw extractor=left hand threads?

I saw a Craftsman set of 5 (no clue as to sizes) that was only $20. I doubt they go above 5/8 or so though.

Irwin sells something similar at HD.

craftsman set of 5 biggest one was 3/4

was able to get the lug off with a diff. 13/16 , pounded it till it nearly hit the wheel,

could not even use a 4 way on the other 4 "regular" lugs

Were you able to get the nut back out of the socket or did you have to sacrifice it?

I've heard that one can pound a sacrificial short piece of pipe on to a locking lug and then use channel locks to break that loose. Never tried it myself though.

Lock nut problem

You could of also used a pipe wrench with an extension bar. This works really good...and a lot cheaper too.

Depends on the design of the wheel. On some you wouldn't be able to get an angle to get the wrench on the nut. Would work with the proper clearance.
