Residual Oil Accumuation upon Oil Change

Hi:
There was a bit oil-clamps on the bottom of the oil-pan when my son changed Subaru Outback. He said those oil-clamps are similar to residual oil accumulation, as if wrong/bad oil was poured on the last oil-change.

It's suprprise to me because I didn't drive the Subaru often, although I need to pour a cup of Anti-Freeze every time I drive long distance.

Just wonder something wrong with the car?

Thanks,

Oil-clamps must be something very common. Sorry for ignorance, what is it?

well, I'll just toss my guess in. Neighbor has WRX. He had to have entire engine replaced under warranty due to metal shavings in the oil pan. I am pretty much sure we prolly talking close similar stuff here...
