brakes stuck in up position 2001 PT Cruis

When to start the car and the brakes were stouck in the up position, attempted to press down, nothing happened. Then started the car again and all was fine. I then decided to press down several times and then again brake stuck in up position, any thoughts please, thanks

Brake pedal does not move down?
First thing first - get down there and look for any obstacles, like carpet, floor mat, something wrapped around the pedal.

How many miles?

Sometimes the hydraulic hoses that attach the hard brake lines to the calipers or wheel cylinders can fail internally where they don't let pressure through one way or another. Generally this failure is a result of temperature or a lot of usage, or of improper support for the caliper while it's off of the caliper mount.

well, we still do not know what exactly he meant...
I am yet to see - and feel - a brake pedal that does not go down at all. even with engine not running - it still has some give.
