coolant
Hello
I have a 2007 Toyota Corolla LE with 45K on it.
I'm a lot older and in worse shape than the car so excuse my questions.
I can't see in the reservoir b/c there is a plastic piece blocking the entrance about 3/4 inch down. The side is also hard to see if there is a level of fluid even though I wiped it. I can't shake the car like i used to.
It just says full and low but no fluid is visible from the side.
About a month ago I overfilled it because I could not see the level and now I can't tell if it is full or if it is low and has a leak. I live around a big city which is so expensive or I would just go to a place for help. No mercy or mom or pop here.
I am not aware of any leaks where I park but that is hard to tell to.
Could I just drizzle in some 50/50 coolant and see if it hits the top again? I don't know if I am hurting it by over filling it. Any ideas would be great
Thank you

If you're really concerned, you can remove the radiator cap (only when the engine is COLD, before you start the car) and see if it's up to the top. If you're not seeing leaks on the ground I wouldn't worry about it too much, just let the guy who changes your oil check it and top it up for you.

radiator cap
I did not think about the cap. I will check it out when cold again.
If it is low I will fill it and then check again.
Thank you

well, I had same issue with son's Eclipse. No telling.
2 ways to do with it:
1. remove reservoir cap and shine flashlight inside. Shows coolant level very well.
2. Does it have long hose connected to reservoir cap? If yes, well, he-he, simply check level on that hose.
That you have - if you have radiator cap - up to radiator cap means not much, as you may have empty expansion canister. And guess what- after few cycles, it will suck air into the system, slow but sure.

I did check the rad cap and fluid was at the top.
When I had put a litte in the reservoir it came to top above full level.
All indications are it is ok. I went to dealer to ask whether it was an old fogy issue or not. Two guys came out and showed me how it is not easy to see the level from the resevoir or anywhere with that design.
That plate about an inch in the resevoir and laying horizontally blocks the view of any coolant. I tried a bright flashlight to no avail. Perhaps if 1/2 way down I may have seen something with a light.
They changed their design and well they should have.
The only think worse was the new pleated oil filters you need a special tool for;thank goodness I missed that one.
Proprietary -every corp wants you to bring the pc, car etc to them.
Thank you for the help.

no, no, you do not look inside from the cap, when flashing light in. You look from the side on it, bright light clearly shows where coolant level is, as it refracts light beam differently. It's like shiny beaded line .
