bad alternator or connection. might be something in that alt. built wrong that does not turn the light off.most cars send a voltage to the connector on the alt. and when it charges it removes the ground that completes the circuit to the light. turning it off. ford focuses where the worst on this for a long time it had to be built by ford or it would keep the light on. id see if they will switch it out.

I had THREE faulty alternators replaced one evening. THREE. Outta da box - won't work. Fortunately, on that car, was truly 15 second job.
Pull ECM fuse out for about a minute. Maybe it'll flush it.

James,

Try an "Idle Relearn". Shouldn't have to, and shouldn't make a difference, but I have found that many times a relearn makes a difference.

Thank You

Care to explain "how to"? Personally, never heard of it. Doubt OP did also. There is a similar sounding procedure for my Camry Hybrid, but for a CR-V???

Ukrbyk,

The "Idle Relearn" procedure is the same for all CRV's from 2002 to 2004. See the "PDI SHEET" below. When the page scroll down to page 2, and look for the procedure on the left side of the page.

Thank You
