brake lights inop on 2000 Mitsubishi Montero Sport

Bulbs, and fuses, both in the passenger compartment, and engine compartment boxes are ok. Anyone have any idea where the problem may be?

Brake pedal switch?

Seems like turn signals and emergency flashers might use the same bulbs/circuit? Guess it depends on car...but try that to verify.

Check the rubber bumper on the brake pedal that the brake light actuator plunger actually hits. On some cars (I think Hondas are known for this) the little pad will wear out and fall out leaving a big hole in the bracket for the actuator plunger to go in rather than being actuated.
