'86 Pontiac Trans Am, Shifter cable linkage broke

Hey all,

A coworker's '86 Trans Am (that I sold to her a few months back) had the shifter linkage break. I'm curious as to how difficult it is to do the repair, I assume that the console has to be partially disassembled and the linkage pulled through the floor sheet metal grommet...

I'm not doing the repair, but I'm trying to advise to make it as cost-effective for her as possible. At least the part is cheap, only about $25...

It is not terribly difficult.

As you noted, you will have to pull the center console trim and crawl under the car.

Be sure to route it cleanly and not to kink the cable.
