1995 Sable GS wagon vin # 1MELM55U5SG619874

We think the above Sable was struck by lightening[sp]. Since that time remote door opener does not work. Among a few other components. Rear hatch lock keeps cycling off and on. Now disconnected. Have not been able to find a wiring diagram. Would a scanning of the system show what is wrong? TIA jps

Judging from the VIN number, it is possessed by demons, actually.
Sorry, couldn't hold myself. How would we know? You can have short somewhere, causing it all. It's Ford, they have all kinds of weird electrical issues happening.
Wiring diagram is easily obtained from any library Chilton.

Jps,

The electrical issues you are describing here could be due to battery (and or) alternator issues. First make sure that the connections at the battery are on tight and that they are clean. Ground connections are especially important, and all connections must be free of all dirt, rust and corrosion.

How old is the battery?

Is the battery in good condition or is it weak?

Don’t just go ahead and replace the battery, but for answers to these questions and much more, have an ASE Master Mechanic, do what is known as a “Load Test” on you cars starting and charging systems. Visit the link below for more information.

Thank You
