2000 chevy blazer

2000 Chevy Blazer will not start It is getting gas, spark. Has new fuel pump, manifold gaskets, battery and several other parts. Engine turns over strong but will not start. Any suggestions?

Got it to start but is ideling at around 3000 to 3500 RPMs. What could be the cause of this? Really would like to get my vehicle running again. Thanks for your help.

If it's getting gas and has spark it should start or at least cough.

How do you know there is actually gas getting into engine ?
Did you check the fuel rail for pressure ?

Inline with PJ's questions, you might try taking the intake duct loose and shooting a bit of aerosol carb cleaner down the throat while someone cranks it to see if you can at least get a cough.

Has it run since any work, like the manifold gaskets, was done?

Ummmmmm.......that's not idling.

Is this the first time it's been running since all those new parts were installed ?

A vacuum leak especially thru intake manifold gaskets can raise havoc on idle.

Check for a stuck linkage from the gas pedal. It sounds like something is holding the throttle open. It's idling way too fast for an idle air control issue.

Idleing issue

No it ran for a couple of days then quit, but this is the first time in about 2 months. It starts great then idles up by itself but want go down to where it is supposed to be, Checked the idle arm and it is fine. Guess we will continue to try different things. Thanks for your help

Gas peddle is ok, it starts and idles for just a second or two then idles up by its self.

bet the idle air control motor was stuck shut, and now stuck open. this will be located on the throttle body.tap it with something small while its running and see if your idle is better.

Check codes if you can get it to a reader/scanner. Might be a tranny code that will give you a clue. Do you happen to know what tranny is in it? Shift solenoid(s) or input speed sensor come to mind. Will run it by my tranny guru if I get by there today.

No I don't know what tranny is in it but going to try to get to the scanner, probably over weekend. Thanks for all your help. I am about ready to junk this thing except can't afford payments on another vehicle.

double check the area you was in might have nocked something loose(vac hose to trans/t/v cable. so what really fixed your first problem? depending on what that was you might need to reset your pcm. batt disconnect.

Thanks for all your help. After 4 months with my vehicle down it is now up and running like a new one. After replacing the manifold gasket, battery, mass air sensor, TP senor and several more sensors, a wire on the starter, it is fixed.

Wow.... certainly many parts. Don't forget to say a little prayer to the car gods to keep it running.
