2005 Hyundai Elantra Door Panel (passenger side)

Seems my son's wife likes to take tight right hand corners, bumping into concrete things in a parking garage, twice!

3 issues:

1) Outside door latch doesn't work, but does work from the inside.

2) Electric window doesn't work from the door switch but DOES work from driver's door.

3) Smallish dent (hope we can pop it out)

Is that white stuff foam or something we can remove? Son thinks a rod or whatever may have come off to the outside door handle. Same with the window, maybe something came unplugged.

Here's the video:

Thanks

EDIT: not the white stuff he's holding, whatever that is on the door itself.

Doesn't look like there is much room to pound out a dent, wherever it is.

I'm assuming you've viewed the video to see how to remove the plastic water shield. Important thing is to try not to stretch it or rip it.

The linkages that connect the door release handle are metal rods that snap into plastic eccentrics. In your case the rod may have just become unsnapped.

There is usually a switch in the drivers side switch panel that shuts off all the electric windows except for the drivers window. When that switch is off the windows can't be controlled from the individual switches but the driver can still control them all.

Is that switch turned off by chance ?
The passenger front window isn't working at it's control......how about the rear doors ?

As far as the dent...... you're right.....there's very little room to work within the door. The speaker can be removed for additional access.

...drivers side switch panel that shuts off all the electric windows...
Of course, even my old Grand Marquis has that, never thought of it. I'd almost bet the farm that is it seeing it's only the two of them.

They live down in the cities but they'll be up Monday then we'll see what we can destroy. Hope it comes apart as easy as the video shows.

Thanks

Success

It wasn't a dent but a slight crease from the middle of the door to just under the door handle. Cable and rod were still connected so we went to plan B.

She found on the internet that the rod from the handle to the latch might need to be tweaked. Son took a needle nose and bent the rod a little and it now works fine.

Turns out the window button works going up, not down so probably the switch which they didn't really care about.

Whole thing took maybe 45 minutes tops and they drove away happy campers.

Thanks
