we have no heat but have ac . the engine light was on with 4 codes that read air leak small and air leak large which we reset thinking that might fix problem but still no heat . we have plenty of rad fluid. no leaking on floor so not the heater core. any suggestions what it could be I see the common problems with these cars but what does air leak mean .

Welcome to the forums.

You have A/C but no heat. Do you have air blowing in heat mode that just isn't warm ?
Your problem may be a stuck blend door. The blend door moves from hot to cold to vary the amount of hot air inside the car. It's usually operated by the knob that has heat in one direction and cool in the other. It can be vacuum operated or mechanical.

A code set from an air leak may be referring to a vacuum leak. If you have a vacuum problem that could possibly be one reason the vacuum controls aren't working. When you change from defrost to A/C does the location the air comes out change normally ?

If anyone, including previous owners, have used Stop Leak in the radiator, likelihood is the heater core is clogged. It can be unclogged by disconnecting both inlet and outlet hoses and blowing water backwards through it (through the outlet).

Check with your dealer. There was a service bulletin put out on the 06-07's, maybe other years as well. There is a cracking problem on a component that exhibits the symptoms you have. I am the second owner of mine and got the letter. Supposedly, GM is going to fix this free of charge for up to 10 years or something like that. Check here 2006 Chevrolet Equinox TSBs | CarComplaints.com for some info. You will have to scroll to the bottom of the page and look under Equipment: Air Conditioner
