2001 Mercury Sable - Rattling Exhaust Clamp on Lower Control Arm

I have a 2001 Mercury Sable, which has for some months now been rattling quite loudly when idle.

I recently had the local Ford dealership check it out (the car was there anyways for minor recall work). The culprit: an exhaust clamp on the lower control arm. The dealership wanted way too much money for that repair (among others).

1) Does this mean the clamp is on the rear lower control arm?

2) Could this be the heat shield rattling? I have seen videos on how to fix those rattles.

Obviously I won't know until putting her up on blocks and listening. However, I wanted to ask the experts out there.

Any tips would be much appreciated!

Item one: Do not use cinder blocks, use jack stands on pavement or ramps.

I doubt it's actually on a control arm. The control arms move up and down and the exhaust is relatively stationary.

Yes, could be a heat shield. Should be easy to discern when you get it up in the air and get a look/hear underneath.

Work safely.

Heat shield was my first thought - you'd know that from being under it.
