what is the procedure for releasing the fuel line pressure on a 01 Buick LeSabre in order to change the fuel filter?

Welcome to the forums!

I don't know the specifics for your vehicle but on most fords and mopars there is a shraeder valve on the fuel valve - you release the pressure there. Yours might be the same. Gas will come out so you need to prepare for that. I normally use the hose on my fuel pressure gauge to release and direct the fuel into a container.

Never did any release procedures for many filters I changed. As far as pump is not running and nothing around is hot... It's going to spill one way or another.
Many GM-s have breaker switch in the trunk, btw, by the filler neck. Far as I remember, you pull it out of upholstery and shake...
