No power on Kia Picanto

Hi All

Please help!! I have a 2007 Kia Picanto hatchback and had valves and head gasket replaced, but the engine only idles, and will not rev up. The compression tests show up to be fine, although car is now smoking heavy

Does it respond to the throttle at all? Smoking heavily after engine work is not a good sign. What was the reason for the head job?

Gas or diesel engine?

Are you sure the plugs are wired to the correct firing order?

It is a 1.1l petrol engine. friend found water & oil mixing when he checked the oil level dipstick indicator. No, the car does not respond to the throttle at all

Heavy smoke.....

White? Black? Grey?

You have something wrong with fuel supply or timing. Or, throttle position sensor does not tell ECM throttle is opening and it does not act pump accordingly.
Or, you may simply have throttle valve diconnected.. As an oversight during reassembly.

Sounds like you guys winged DIY head job... Which is OK, done myself. But there is much that can go wrong thereafter, you know.

I'd say, you have coolant getting into combustion chambers, causing lack of spark and smoke...Sounds like a "do over" to me.
