91 Grand Marquis A/C

If the freon has leaked out will the compressor not come on at all? I always thought it should cycle on and off if it was low, this one won't come on even once.

According to the book, the fuse for the AC clutch also powers the blinkers. Blinkers work fine so the fuse should be good. With the engine off I can turn the compressor by hand easily.

Haven't driven this car in probably four years so maybe it's tired?

Thanks

I don't think it will come on at all. My 2001 Mazda had an issue and the comp wouldn't engage with low pressure...at least I don't remember that it did.

Okay thanks. It used to work and that's the only thing I could think of.

My memory isn't the greatest but I was thinking the AC on a 1990 jeep I used to own would try to work when low on refrigerant, it just wasn't very effective .... but mine didn't loose all the refrigerant.

Haven't driven this car in probably four years so maybe it's tired?
Golly, you'd think it had time to rest up ..... sorry, couldn't resist

Oh, if it's low, yes it will cycle on and off, but rather quickly I think. If it's below a certain point, I don't think it will come on at all.

Could be wrong, but thats the way I remember it.
