With no meter how did you check the fuses ?
Did both problems occur at the same exact time?
For auto diagnostic work..... a 12v test light is a very effective tool.

the ac will not work if the engine temp is not know by the computer.it does this to protect the engine from overheating with the ac load.could be a problem with the coolant temperature sensor or a communication problem between modules.
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) displays the engine coolant temperature as determined by the engine control module (ECM). The ECM sends the temperature data via high speed GMLAN serial data to the body control module (BCM). The BCM then sends the information via low speed GMLAN to the IPC in order to display the engine temperature. The ECM receives a signal from the ECT.
Is your check engine light on?
