2005 Chevy Express 5.3L

Van runs fine except it started not wanting to idle. At first it was occasional. Now it's as soon as the engine idles down, it stalls. It will immediately restart and power braking keeping the RPM up a bit will allow driving. We suspected maybe tune up issues so the plugs were changed and plug wires. Others said maybe Idle Air Control but I am not seeing one listed for this engine/year. Anyone want to take a stab at best item to look at first? Thanks

Check for air leaks in the Air Induction system (e.g., in the intake manifold)
Check for air leaks in the PCV system and in its related hoses and/or valve
Idle air inlet passage or throttle bore is dirty or full of deposits
IAC valve has failed
MAF sensor is dirty, "skewed" or installed improperly
Throttle plate, throttle shaft or linkage is damaged or sticking
TP sensor is out-of-range or "skewed" high

Get a code read to see if any clues show up.

Add EGR valve to Igor's list.

new or recently dead battery? these use an electrical controlled throttle body to perform idle. if the pcm lost power it would reset to factory specs, and if the throttle is dirty it is not getting proper air flow.
