Pre-Loctited Bolt

I ordered a new bolt for the tensioner pulley for my Acura MDX (as instructed in the service manual) and the bolt came with red thread locker on it. The thread locker is dry, so I'm not quite sure how it would do much. Doesn't thread locker need to be applied wet so that a bond is made between the bolt and bolt hole threads?

The pre-installed thread locker will activate by the heat of the engine after installation.

And maybe to a lesser degree (pardon the pun) of simply screwing it in.

Screwing the fastener in activates the thread locker.

Thanks fellas. I figured it was something like that. I was pretty sure I didn't need to do anything but screw it in. Makes sense that screwing it in would coat all the threads and engine heat would activate it.

Heat has nothing to do with it.
Ever bought a bottle of any Loc-Tite blue or red and noticed it's never full?
The lack of air causes it to harden.
Want to loosen a bolt with Loc-Tite on it, add heat and it comes right out.

Correct! Does not need heat.
