Reduced Engine Power

My 2004 trailblazer,a couple of days ago displayed "reduced engine power" on the dash. The truck started sputtering/idling erratic,it also drives about 10 miles an hour max....also after I shut it down and crank it up again it revs really high and drops down to a shaky idle. Please help.

Tune up due. Spark plugs, wires, air filter. Run Seafom through gas tank to clean passages.

probably has codes stored in the pcm that will need to be read with a scanner to determine what the problem is probably suggest you see your local dealership for diagnosis.

sorry to say its time for a throttle body. these use a drive by wire system. and what happens is a gear or sensor goes bad in the throttle body causing it to default to an idle. very very common. they have recalls out for newer models, i dont believe they did it for older years.

Have the trouble codes read. They will tell you what you need to know.

Go to Autozone , O'Reilly , etc & they will read the codes for free .

If it is the throttle body , you may get buy with buying a spray can of cleaner & cleaning it .

But see what the codes say .

These " fly by wire " systems are a " solution in search of a problem " . And a way to sell expensive parts . :-(

God bless
