question about alternators

So my alt needs to be replaced due to bad voltage regulator producing 20+ volts.
Ive shopped around and its $200 for one at the store here.
But my question is this. My alt is 130 amp and the re manufactured ones are 105-110 amp. Will this be an issue? because for $85 I can get a new one online thats 105 amp or a remanufactured one thats 110 amp.

Or I can get one used from a junk yard or something but I dont know how I feel about that.

What does the book call for on your vehicle? was the 130 amp original or an upgrade? You might be able to just replace the voltage regulator.

Well I may be wrong because it seems like they produced 4 different engines for this model car.
The book says nothing about the alternator.

Something is wrong if rockauto wants that much. If there are 4 different engines, there might be more than one alternator. You have to clarify what engine you have & what it takes.

I understand that the voltage regulator is part of the alternator but it can still be replaced although it appears to be pretty pricey for your vehicle - Voltage Regulator ECH VR454 | NAPA Auto Parts although if there are other issues with the alternator it makes sense to replace the entire unit.

you can probably save some by buying online if you can wait for it to ship in, you really don't want to be driving the car with it charging at 20 volts.
see similar prices on rock auto as the one you linked to on ebay but doesn't really matter where you buy it at, as long as it fits might want to check your 8th vin number if its an s you have the 3.0 dohc engine.

You must have been looking up the wrong alt... No you dont want to go down on amps.. If you have the 130amp alt in there then your engine code is S and not U 3.0L

The link below from autozone shows a 130 amp alt.. Thats what you should be getting..

$144 bucks is not too bad either...
